OUR ARTISTIC VISION
The Working Peoples Theatre is a home for artists and communities who have something vital to say. We make theatre that is born from real voices, real stories and real lives, using verbatim techniques to transform lived experience into electrifying performance that forces audiences into conversation through bold, modern storytelling. We exist to support all artists no matter their income, giving them a stage, a structure and a global community to belong to through a living cycle of education, mentorship, apprenticeships and touring that keeps talent growing and working. We produce community driven work that proves theatre is not a luxury, it is a necessity rooted in local truth. This is theatre that listens first, and then makes the world sit up and pay attention.
EDUCATION
Empowering the next generation of artists through creative workshops and specialised educational programs designed for all skill levels. Whether in person, exclusively online or a mix that works for you personally, we are passionate about passing on knowledge and developing the real skills people need to thrive as theatre professionals.
MENTORSHIPS
Connecting emerging talent with seasoned industry professionals for one-on-one guidance and career-defining mentorship opportunities. This is not just about supporting new blood, it's about ensuring the lessons of the past and present are kept alive, collectively fuelling the future of the performing arts community.
APPRENTICESHIPS
We bridge the gap between education and the stage through meaningful, practical, hands-on apprenticeships. Our mission is to provide real-world experience in all aspects of professional theatre including stage management, technical production, marketing and promotion, performance and beyond, through our formal apprenticeship program.
TOURING
We will be bringing high-quality theatre directly to regional audiences, typically less well-served than most major cities helping to ensure that professional performance is accessible to everyone, everywhere. It also provides real-world output and experience for our students and apprentices to work alongside our mentors and teachers collaboratively.
